Kilara Og U12 Football Team   15/03/2017

Great start for U12 Premier footballers.

Kilara Og 4-06 Sliabh Rua 1-3

Kilara Og made a fantastic start to their first ever venture into the world of Premier 2 football in the Central Rebel Og division last Saturday morning at the Araglen venue. This was a step into the unknown at a higher grade and against different oppositions than we have traditionally operated at but the lads put in a special performance which meant we need not have worried about this step up. On a well prepared pitch the players made little of a heavy underfoot conditions and tough slippy ball to produce a great display of football. Kilara started well getting the first few scorers with our industrious forwards interchanging well and giving their opponents a lot of problems. Our backs were well on top throughout and midfield was sound also all through. Ben Carey was sound all through in goal and his kick outs found there targets more often than not. Oisin Hogan our captain defended well and used the ball well out of defence. Sean Og Kenneally was colossal at full back and was just superb throughout. Our half back line of Gearoid Carey, Pierce Riordan and Oisin Farrell-Carey were strong defensively and the Launchpad of many of our attacks. Midfield pairing of Conor Twomey and Thomas Maher played well, covered an amount of ground and were a threat going forward. Brian Dunne worked really hard in the half forward line and carried a lot of ball taking his goal very well. David Noonan is a fantastic athlete and contributed nicely to the play and chipped in on the scoring. Patrick Kenny ran himself to a standstill and was rewarded with 1-2 from the half forward line which was a big help at crucial times of the game. Our inside forward line of Olan McCarthy-O’ Donoghue and Liam Og Hegarty were a thorn in the oppositions side all day and contributed a handsome return of 2-2 between them. Our subs played a big part in the win also Andrew Sisk was introduced at half time for Conor Twomey (who was bound for Scor to compete in set dancing and question time) and got straight into his stride and played very well for the entire 2nd half. Finnan Tobin-Allen and The Hynes cousins Jason and Eoin were also introduced and all acquitted themselves well. I would also like to mention our extended panel of players who though not togged out on the day have been training together with this group which has helped the full group prepare well and we are looking forward to their campaign in the North division B competition where we hope to also be very competitive with that team. Team and Scorers.
